The History of The Orchards Golf Club The history of The Orchards began in 1922 when Joseph Skinner commissioned Scotsman Donald J. Ross to design the course. The course was originally just nine holes – the final nine was added under the architect’s deliberate guidance in 1927. In 1941, the course was donated to Mount Holyoke College, where it has remained hidden away for golfers to enjoy.
